Huy ch q’u (thank you) to Nicola Racanelli, a B.A.S.E.S. teacher from North Surrey Secondary, for sharing some of the ways they embed Truth and Reconciliation into their teaching practice.  A Hands and Heart pin is on its way to you.

One of the ways we share Indigenous stories in our BASES classroom is having a guest speaker during our First People’s in Residence week come and spend the day with our students. Here are a few photos from when we had Terry in our classroom last year. We are thrilled to have him back again this year! Students got to hear Terry’s story, he showed students photos, and he created artwork for our students to paint. Our students really enjoyed having him in our classroom. The 4th photo is artwork that Terry gifted our class; it lives on one of our classroom walls. ❤️

We are looking forward to seeing Terry again in a few weeks and we are excited to see what activity he has planned for us!
