Our Living Languages Exhibit at the Surrey Museum

For one of their commitments towards reconciliation, the City of Surrey Museum has a dedicated exhibit called “Our Living Languages” where you can visit the exhibit for free. The exhibit runs from September 13, 2022, to April 9, 2023. You can also take a virtual tour.  

As part of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, five of the 94 Calls to Action extoll the need to acknowledge and restore Language and Culture. One of the more devastating erasures of culture was the loss of language.  Call to Action 13 demands that “We call upon the federal government to acknowledge that Aboriginal rights include Aboriginal language rights.”
