On December 8, 2022, the employer advised the union that as provincial bargaining has concluded, job share partners will no longer be allowed to “swap days” after December 16, 2022.

In February of 2021, the employer notified us that it would no longer allow job share partners to “swap days” (trade or swap days outside of their regularly scheduled days of work without accessing leave entitlements).

The union subsequently grieved this, and in communications between counsel in preparation for the arbitration, the employer confirmed that job share partners could continue to “swap days” until the conclusion of provincial bargaining.

The employer advised the union on December 8, 2022, that as provincial bargaining has concluded, job share partners will no longer be allowed to “swap days” after December 16, 2022.

We are currently in arbitration on this matter. If you have any questions or concerns about this, please reach out to Gavin Slade-Kerr at hs@surreyteachers.org.
