The STA Status of Women Committee is once again planning our annual Grade 7 Empowered Girls Conference (in-person – finally!) and we would like to ask if you are able to work with us to give the girls a fun and inspiring day this year.
Some ideas for workshops are STEM, athletics, fine arts (visual, dance, singing, photography, filmography, pottery, etc.), social justice, anything interactive! We know Surrey teachers are a very talented bunch and have a lot to offer!
The conference will take place on Monday, May 29, 2023, at LA Matheson Secondary, located at 9484 – 122 Street, Surrey. I am very excited to announce that our keynote speaker for this year will be Rochelle Prasad, an internationally recognized leader, educator, and social entrepreneur with a strong passion for empowering the next generation. The day will begin at 8:30 am and end by 2:30 pm. Presenters will present for up to 3 sessions, about 1 hour and 15 minutes each.
