No. STA members are expected to attend the Convention. There are no virtual options at Convention this year, so attendance needs to be in–person.
Yes, if Friday, May 3rd is a work day for you. The day is protected in the collective agreement and it is expected that members attend. Please note, the Pro-D funding guidelines do not allow reimbursement of funds for alternate Pro-D activities on that day.
STA Convention is at the following sites: Indigenous at Earl Marriott Secondary School, Elementary at Sullivan Heights Secondary School/Goldstone Park Elementary School, and Secondary at Johnston Heights Secondary School. There are also multiple excursion sites at various locations.
We currently do not have the ability to manage a wait list. You have the option to choose something different or check back to see if space open up.
Yes, the keynote is in-person at Sullivan Heights Secondary in the Bell Centre. While in-person space for the theatre is limited, a link to the livestream will be provided on your participant’s page if you are attending an excursion. The keynote will be livestreamed at Earl Marriot and Johnston Heights Secondary Schools in their gyms.
The locations for each excursion should be indicated on your registration page.
You can email convention@surreyteachers.org HOWEVER this email can only be checked by Convention Committee members if they are free. We will be busy at the in-person sites so it may take some time.
Yes. Unless otherwise indicated, lunch is not provided at excursions.
All three in-person sites will have coffee and snacks provided in the morning, as well as lunch. People at Goldstone Elementary need to go to Sullivan Heights for lunch.
To keep things as eco-friendly as possible we would appreciate it if you brought your reusable containers. However, there will be some paper cups available at each site.

Yes, it is free for student teachers to attend. Please have them register at staconvention.ca.
Parking is available but there is limited parking space at all of our sites. If you are able to carpool or take transit please do so.
Spaces are limited due to capacity and presenter wishes. Please check workshop sign-in sheets if there are spaces available. If the workshop already indicates it is FULL on the registration site please do not plan to attend.
