Committees - Surrey Teachers Association

Members at all career stages contribute significantly through committee work.

STA committees are composed of dedicated members who volunteer their time to represent the voice of teachers in various areas.

There are numerous STA committees you may wish to get involved with. Members meet, vote on proposed actions, plan events, attend community events together, and make recommendations to the Executive committee. All meetings of all committees are open to any member to attend as a guest, so why not come and find out what a committee you are interested in is discussing!

STA committee elections occur during our June Special General Meeting. Members may also be appointed to a committee by the Executive Committee by submitting a completed Curriculum Vitae Application form.

Committee Handbook: This handbook serves as a reference guide for STA committees, outlining the STA Procedures, Policies, and By-Laws that govern committee work. It provides valuable information to help you lead your committee and outlines the guidelines and expectations for both committees and their chairs.
Governance Documents: Explore the foundational documents that define our association, including the Constitution, By-laws, Policies, Procedures, and Meeting Rules of Order.
Expense Voucher: Committee members volunteering their services for STA work are entitled to reimbursement for costs such as mileage, meals, childcare, and pet boarding/care. Expense claims shall be submitted on the STA Expense Voucher to the Committee Chairperson.
Event Request Form: The STA office assists with organizing committee events and promotes them through the STA website and the STA Connection. To submit event details, complete the form.
Special Projects Grant Application: Committees can apply for additional funding through the Special Projects Grant.
Donation Request Form: Donation requests should be submitted to the Executive using the approved form. For local community-based organizations, committees may request donations up to $250 from either the committee budget or the Executive Committee Donations budget
