Application Guidelines and Information

Deadlines and Process

  • Deadline: March 1 (for support in the following school year)
  • A completed application form is required
  • Submit one application annually that includes any multiple requests
  • Decisions will be communicated in June (timing may vary)
Types of Support

The STA may consider support in these categories:

  1. Direct donations
  2. Sponsorships
  3. Professional support
  4. In kind support
Giving Priorities

The STA considers requests aligned with the following:

  • Labour issues and workers’ rights (solidarity)
  • Social justice, including anti poverty and affordability, equity, diversity, and inclusion
  • Students and youth
  • Environment
  • Indigenous issues and reconciliation
  • Public policy issues
  • Catastrophic world and local events
Shared Basis of Unity

STA policies and procedures guide our charitable giving. Recipients should share union interests and objectives.

Applications that do not meet these guidelines will not be brought forward to the STA Executive Committee for consideration.
