I am deeply grateful to have been selected as a recipient of your scholarship. This generous award will significantly support my journey towards earning a degree in Applied Physics at Simon Fraser University.
Throughout my school experience at Brookswood Secondary School in Langley, I was continually inspired by the dedication and positive impact of my teachers. In particular, my senior science teachers supported me to grow and pursue my passion in science. My involvement in the Leadership program and as a mentor for Grade 8 students has shown me the importance of giving back to my school and community. This has inspired my ambition to one day become a science teacher myself. I hope to leverage this degree not only to deepen my understanding of physics but also to ignite curiosity and inspire future students, just as my teachers did for me.
Thank you again for your generosity and support. Your investment in my education means more than words can express, and I look forward to paying it forward in the years to come.
Receiving the Surrey Teacher’s Association Scholarship is an incredible honor and a valuable support as I begin my studies at the University of Toronto’s Rotman Commerce program. This scholarship will allow me to focus more on my academics and career goals. By specializing in finance and economics, I aim to build a strong foundation for a career in finance, and this scholarship brings me closer to that aspiration. I am truly grateful for this support and the opportunities it unlocks for my future.
I am deeply honoured to have been selected for the Surrey Teachers’ Association Scholarship. Receiving this scholarship means a great deal to me, both as a recognition of my hard work and also a source of support in achieving my academic goals.
This award will help me in pursuing my studies at UBC, alleviating some of the financial pressures of attending university and allowing me to take full advantage of the opportunities available to me. I am committed to making the most of this opportunity and aspire to contribute to the field of technology in the future as a Machine Learning Engineer.
Hello! My name is Shaila Sharma, and I would like to thank the Surrey Teachers’ Association for selecting me as a recipient of this award! I am currently a 1st year student at Simon Fraser University, and I am studying psychology. As someone with ADHD, I am very interested in studying how learning disabilities present differently in men and women. This scholarship will significantly contribute to my studies and help me explore this important area further! Ultimately, I hope to pursue a career in law and continue advocating for people who have disabilities. With the STA’s support, I am one step closer to my goal!
Once again, I would like to thank the STA for their generosity, and for believing in my potential. I am deeply honoured!
Being the recipient of this bursary truly means a lot. It is allowing me to continue my studies in physical and health education to hopefully pursue a career in teaching. I have been inspired by many teachers throughout my schooling, but the most important of them all is my mother. I cannot wait to continue my studies in this career field and with the generosity of the STA, they are helping to shape my future in ways that words can’t fully express, and I am truly grateful for that.
My name is Giorgia Egitto, and I would like to express my gratitude for being selected as a recipient of this STA bursary! I am studying at the Haskayne School of Business at the University of Calgary this year. I aim to graduate with a degree in Business with a concentration in Human Resources and Organizational Management. I am enjoying my studies so far, but I am aware of the high cost of pursuing a higher education. This bursary will pay for some of my tuition and help me immensely. I am very grateful to my teachers and family, who have fostered my love for learning. I hope to one day be part of an organization that gives back to the community and helps provide student opportunities. Thank you again to the Surrey Teacher’s Association for your support.
I feel exceptionally grateful to be a recipient of the Bursary for children of STA members in recognition of my academic and extracurricular achievements. I am incredibly thankful to the committee for recognizing my accomplishments and hard work throughout high school, as well as to my teachers at Katzie, Walnut Road, and Fleetwood Park Secondary who encouraged and supported me throughout my education. I am currently attending Simon Fraser University where I play on the women’s volleyball team. This bursary will enable me to continue my studies next semester with significantly less financial burden. My future goal is to become an elementary school teacher like both of my parents and give back to the community that has imparted so much to me over the years.
I am extremely grateful to the STA for continually supporting graduating students through their scholarship and bursary programs. Winning this bursary is an honour and a testament to the hard work I have put into my academics and volunteer activities. These funds will support me on my academic journey, enabling me to obtain the knowledge I need for my future endeavours. I am interested in a career in Physiotherapy, so this bursary will go directly towards my university education. Thank you Surrey Teachers Association!
I wanted to take a moment to express my sincere gratitude towards Surrey Teachers’ Association Awards Committee for awarding me with the prestigious STA bursary. This generous support is valuable and will truly make a difference in my ability to support career prospects this year.
The anticipated cost related to medical studies is huge and therefore this bursary means a great deal to me. This bursary assistance will be instrumental in paving the way for my academic aspirations and career goals. The financial support will allow me to focus on academics, thereby providing a relaxing cushion in terms of financial obligations. This support will reduce some stress of tuition costs, enabling me to devote more time and energy to honing my craft and becoming an effective healthcare professional, thus making a positive contribution to the community.
I am truly grateful for this incredible opportunity and the recognition of the Surrey Teachers’ Association. Their investment in my growth and success is a testament to the wonderful community of educators we are a part of.
My name is Nicole Taylor and I would like to thank the STA for awarding me a bursary this year! Thank you for recognizing my hard work in high school and for allowing me to pursue my university goals. I am in my 1st year at the University of the Fraser Valley (UFV), enrolled in the Engineering Transfer diploma program and I have loved it so far. I have enjoyed the challenge and have connected well with a group of students who share the same interests I have. With a 51-credit year ahead of me I am very thankful for the financial help this bursary provides. After this year I plan to transfer to another university to complete either an Engineering or Science degree. I would like to say thank you to all of my teachers who made high school a great experience for me. I especially want to thank my AP Chemistry, Physics and Calculus teachers at Brookswood Secondary who really helped me love math and science. They made learning fun and encouraged me to always do my best. Thanks again to the STA — for believing in me and my future education and supporting me through this financial award.
Thank you so much for this incredible award and opportunity. I apologize for not responding sooner, graduation and ceremonies have been taking up a lot of my time. This bursary means so much to me because it means i have more of school covered, so i can hopefully make it out of school with no lones. Thank you for choosing me to be able to have this opportunity, i appreciate it more than you know.
My name is Stephen Goodfellow-Boomer, and I am the recipient of the Indigenous Student Bursary in the amount of $2000.00. Thank you very much for your generous Bursary. With this help I can pursue my passion for Technical Theatre at Capilano University.
I am a grade 12 student who has remained on the honor roll though out my senior years while volunteering with the City of Surrey and the Royal Canadian Theatre. I will be entering my first year of university where I will be pursuing my love for technical theatre and achieve a diploma at the end of two years. After my two years are up at Capilano I hope to transfer my credits to the University of British Columbia and finish my schooling to receive a bachelor’s in arts. I am confident that once I have done my schooling, I will make a lasting difference in the technical theatre industry.
The Indigenous Student Bursary has helped pay for my first year of university which has alleviated my financial burden and allowed me to focus on my studies. Thank you for your generosity.
In preparation for my transition to university, this scholarship serves as something greater than just financial safety; it reminds me that I am not walking this path alone. It is a vote of confidence in my potential to thrive academically in the sciences and medicine, as well as a reminder that the long hours of studying, the late nights spent programming robots or writing debate speeches, and the moments of doubt were all worth it.
As a future physician and researcher, I believe I can utilize my leadership role in the community and society to amplify voices like my own. With a focus on healthcare, I hope to establish a youth medical panel in British Columbia upon graduation. I hope that this panel will be the voice of education in healthcare for youth across the province, advocating for programs and courses in schools like mine.
Steps made possible by the support of this scholarship.
Thank you so much for this incredible honour. I am truly grateful to have been chosen as a recipient of this remarkable award. Being recognized in this way not only affirms my efforts but also inspires me to continue striving for excellence in everything I do.
This award means so much to me and my school community. As a student who is deeply passionate about community service, equity, and anti-racism education, receiving this recognition from educators and leaders in our district encourages me to pursue my academic aspirations with even greater determination. I plan to study nursing in university, with the ultimate goal of becoming a doctor. I am especially interested in making healthcare more accessible and equitable for underrepresented communities.
This support motivates me to continue advocating for positive change, whether it’s through leadership roles in school or through initiatives similar to the Black Student Union I founded at Fraser Heights. Knowing that my efforts are seen and valued gives me hope that I can make an even greater impact in the future.
I am deeply honoured to have won the Jennifer Wage Memorial Social Justice Surrey Student Award! This award will support my journey to a Bachelor of Arts Degree at the University of British Columbia.
After taking Social Justice 12 I was ultimately inspired by all the topics, but more specifically, feminism. I am driven every day to create change within my school and community, implementing ways to promote diversity and equality. I plan on becoming a lawyer to affect greater societal change within the world. I hope to one day work for the United Nations!
This award not only supports my educational journey, but my ambition to achieve my goals. Entering the world after high school is scary, but this award has given me the confidence that I am ready.
Thank you to everyone for your support and kindness, I am forever grateful. I cannot wait to see what the future holds!

It is an honor for me to receive the STA Scholarship. I was consistently inspired academically and personally by the teachers and peers at Guildford Park Secondary, but the most important thing for me was the support my parents gave me. This scholarhsip will allow me to focus more on my academic goals by reducing the financial burden of post-secondary education.
This award will enable me to attend Kwantlen Polytechnic University and continue my education at BCIT to earn a Bachelor’s degree in Crime and Intelligence Analysis. Ultimately, I hope to work in areas such as law enforcement or forensics, where I can apply investigative work and data-driven strategies to make communities safer.
My sincere gratitude goes out to you once again for investing in me. My life has been transformed by your generosity, and I am determined to take full advantage of it.
I am so grateful for this award. It will help ease the financial burden on my family and allow me to focus more on my education as I pursue a degree in Business at SFU.
This award is special to me because it recognizes the efforts I’ve put in throughout my high school years, which is really meaningful and encouraging. My dream is to incorporate social justice into the business field by creating systems and spaces that prioritize equity, representation, and care. This award supports not only my academic goals, but also the values I live by. I hope my future work continues to reflect my commitment to social justice.
