Surrey Students Deserve Better

It takes a community to ensure every child
receives what they need to learn about the world
and how they can participate in it.

Every school day in Surrey, 81,554 students count on the dedication of 7,106 teachers, and 1,677 education assistants, as well as the care of thousands of parents and caregivers who work hard to make sure every child can learn — even when learning is tough.

But chronic underfunding by the provincial government has made this harder than ever.

Decades of underinvestment
have created real barriers in our classrooms:

  • Shortages of basic supplies leading educators to spend their own money on classrooms
  • Insufficient education assistants leaving students without learning support
  • Outdated technology and resources leaving Surrey students behind in a digital world
  • Cuts to arts and sports programs robbing students of the joy of enriched learning experiences

This isn’t just inconvenient — it’s harmful, especially for our most vulnerable learners.

It’s also unacceptable, especially in Surrey, the second largest economic hub in BC. In a province as wealthy as ours, every child should receive a quality public education.

When we underfund education, we all pay the price. And our children carry the burden. When we invest in education, we invest in a stronger future for everyone.

It’s time to fund public education like the future depends on it — because it does!
