There will be an election at the January 19, 2022 General Meeting for a Professional Support Services Officer and for a Grievance Officer. Both are Table Officer positions and part of the Executive Committee which meets every second Tuesday afternoon. Professional Support Services Officer Duties
· Coordinate Peer Support Program and Training
· Coordinate Mediation team and training
· Support members in conflict with members or CUPE members
· Coordinate Mentor 36, the Joint SD36/STA Mentorship Program
· Contact / Liaise with the district on Assessment / Reporting
· Support teachers undergoing evaluations
· Provide advice to members re. curriculum, ministry guidelines etc.
· Respond to member concerns
· Represent members in investigations or harassment complaints
· Provide content for STA publications including STA Connection, Advocate and website
Grievance Officer Duties
· Represent members in investigations
· Process grievances for members
· Co-author grievance communications
· Coordinate grievance meetings
· Co-plan workshops for members and Grievance Committee
· Oversee layoff/recall process and organize layoff/recall meeting
· Attend/assist with New Teachers’ Conferences
· Represent members harassment complaints
· Monitor status of referrals to arbitration
· Respond to member concerns
· Provide content update for website
· Make a regular report to STARA
· Attend Grievance Committee meetings
· Provide content for STA publications including STA Connection, Advocate and website
Secretary-Treasurer Duties
The Secretary-Treasurer takes minutes at STA Executive Committee meetings, STARA Meetings and General Meetings. As well, the Secretary-Treasurer is a member of the Finance Committee and works with the President to manage the STA finances. The Secretary-Treasurer is provided with one release day per month to complete this work.
