On May 12–13, the BC Teachers’ Federation will be holding its annual Public Education Conference in Surrey at the Sheraton Vancouver Guildford Hotel. This conference is a chance to build bridges between teachers and parent activists from around the province to further a meaningful response on issues key to public education advocacy.

The theme of the event this year is responding to hate in our schools and communities. We’d like to extend a warm invitation to parent activists and union members from Surrey. We look forward to further work on our shared values and think this conference will allow for the opportunity of aligned work in the service of public education.

We are lucky to be hearing from the BC Human Rights Commissioner Kasari Govender on Friday evening, followed by a series of workshops by the Canadian Anti-Hate Network, a variety of elected trustees from the region, as well as students and education advocates.

If you’re interested in attending, please email  achudnovsky@bctf.ca. The BCTF would be more than happy to welcome you at no cost.
