Election of your union reps

Why not make this the year you get more involved in the STA? Every school and site needs STA reps. To be effective as a union, we need to ensure all members are informed about their rights through upholding the collective agreement.

You could be part of communicating these to your colleagues and helping them to bring concerns forward. As a Staff Rep or a Health and Safety Rep or a member of Staff Committee you could play an important role in what happens in your school. To be trained for these positions, you will be released for the day to attend workshops hosted by the STA.

The number of reps to be elected depends on the number of STA staff members at your school. The number of teachers on the Staff Committee is usually outlined in your Staff Committee Constitution.

Elections for these positions should happen as soon as possible and the names of successful candidates forwarded to sta@surreyteachers.org.
